Catalog description

This course will focus on the hands-on skills in cell culture techniques such as: operate and maintain tissue culture equipment and cell cultures; maintain aseptic techniques during the preparation of stock and working solutions; autoclave glassware and solutions; maintain a sterile working condition all through; perform cell culture assays to determine cell viability, movement and death; design, perform and troubleshoot experiments and equipment; data analysis; participate and strictly follow universal or employer sponsored cell culture safety training standards; handle and dispose of biohazard materials per safety standards; maintain a lab notebook; and establish good practices in cell culture, communication of results and overall team skills. BIO 210 or BIO 220 or BIO 250 or BIO 260 is a prerequisite for this class.
