Catalog description
This advanced studio course focuses on the development of a fully realized production design for a single script or source material. Students create original design concepts that emphasize world building, spatial storytelling, and visual cohesion across a designed environment. Through research, conceptual development, drafting, physical model-making, miniature fabrication, and digital visualization, students develop and refine their designs through an iterative process. Emphasis is placed on independent decision-making, critical self-evaluation, leadership within collaborative design contexts, and the clear, professional presentation of design work. Regular critiques support refinement and revision as students translate narrative and thematic ideas into cohesive, production-ready design solutions that can be clearly communicated through professional design presentations. FILM 270 is a prerequisite for this class.
