Description & capabilities
Manages sponsored research development, compliance, and faculty research support. A Technology Transfer Office (TTO) was established within ORS in August 2025 to support invention disclosure, intellectual property timing, patent strategy, licensing, and commercialization pathways.
Early TTO activity (academic year 2025–2026): two invention disclosures; one provisional patent filing with a second pending; two executed licensing agreements involving educational software technologies.
ORS administers DePaul's internal research-support portfolio through three faculty councils that operate out of Academic Affairs and are chaired by the Associate Provost for Research (Daniela Stan Raicu): the University Research Council (URC), the Quality of Instruction Council (QIC), and the Public Service Council (PSC). These councils run competitive intramural grant programs (Spirit of Inquiry, Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Public Service, and related awards), the URC and QIC Paid Leave Programs, and the Undergraduate Research Assistant Program (URAP); the Academic Growth and Innovation Fund (AGIF) is administered alongside them. Scale of activity from ORS "Innovation That Matters" reports: AY2023–2024 saw 92 intramural Council awards totaling $463,066; FY2024 URAP funded 122 units (1 unit = 75 student work hours) for $144,570; and 40 paid-leave outcome reports were collected for the December 2023–November 2024 period.

Notes
Service/governance entry. CIRCLE (Curriculum Integrating Research and Creative Learning in Education) tracks research and creative-inquiry course participation via the IRMA CIRCLE application — approximately half of DePaul students enrolled in at least one attributed course in AY 2023-2024 (source: sources/inbox/2026-06-14-circle-report-2024/uploads/CIRCLE_report_FINAL.pdf). Program indexing only; no facility claims inferred.
Internal funding programs (URC / QIC / PSC, paid leave, URAP). Program indexing from ORS internal reports 2021–2025: sources/inbox/2026-06-14-internal-grant-reports-2020-presetn/ (Internal Grant Reports FY21-22 → FY24-25), sources/inbox/2026-06-14-paid-leave-reports-2022-2025/ (Paid Leave Reports 2022–2025), and sources/inbox/2026-06-14-undergradaute-research-assistantship-program-urap-2022-2025/ (URAP Reports FY21-22 → FY2025). These are aggregate/narrative program reports — they do not list individual awardees, so no per-grant records were created. The individual URC/QIC/PSC councils, paid-leave programs, and URAP are preserved as program candidates in the packets' extracted/candidates.yaml and in data/review/resource_candidates.yaml; no separate resource pages were created. Reciprocity: Lauren K. Miller (PER-118, ORS Chief of Staff / Director of Research & Innovation Strategies) and Daniela Raicu (PER-015, Associate Provost for Research, council chair) link to this office in data/people.yaml.
