Summary 🟡 ✓

  • Owner Unit: College of Science and Health
  • Sub-unit: Department of Psychology — Neurophysiology (NP) Laboratory
  • Content Type: laboratory
  • Campus/Location: Lincoln Park (Byrne Hall 619, 2219 N Kenmore Ave)
  • Last Verified: August 19, 2026

Description & capabilities

The Neurophysiology (NP) Laboratory is the host to DePaul's only Electroencephalography (EEG) equipment, integrated with other physiological measures and eye tracking. The lab site lists BioSemi ActiveTwo EEG (caps for most adult heads; up to 32 scalp electrodes plus 8 additional electrodes), facial EMG, GSR, a plethysmograph pulse sensor, a Nihon Kohden TR-753T respiration belt, and an EyeLink 1000 with optional EyeLink Head Support. It is located in Byrne Hall 619 on the Lincoln Park campus and is available to faculty, staff, and students across the university via the intake form under Get Involved.

Joseph Mikels is listed as principal director and also directs the Emotion and Cognition Laboratory (emocoglab.depaul.edu); EmoCog is not promoted here as a separate facility (no published equipment inventory). Co-principal directors named on the lab People page are Jessica Choplin, Verena Graupmann, and Sandra Virtue. Prose on that page also names Pablo Gomez (Psychology); www.depaul.edu/faculty/pablo-gomez returned 404 on 2026-08-19, so no person record was created.

Distinct from UNI-015 Neuro-Business Lab eye-tracking and GSR (Driehaus / BETA Hub): same measurement categories, separate inventories.

Promoted 2026-08-19 from lab site captures in packet 2026-08-19-human-tech-capability-bridges (vaulted as depaul/SRC-001555 and related SRC-001562–001569). Graduate students named on the lab site are not promoted. NSF MRI GRA-1098 (award 1338112; Scholars project page) purchased the EEG/ERP, eye-tracking, and physiology system.
